That will return you to CorelDRAW, with your edited image ready to apply other effects if needed (for example, with the Drop Shadow Tool). You will be prompted to save your changes, click Yes. Once you’re happy with your selection, we simply click Finish Editing button in the Properties Bar to close the program. You can refine the selection using the different Mask tools if necessary. But since you need to select everything except the background go to Mask > Invert Mask (Ctrl + Shift + I). If the background is a uniform color, just select it with a click. Tip: if you press the W key, the Magic Wand Tool is automatically activated. Once PHOTO-PAINT opens, take the Magic Wand Tool, which we find within the Mask Tools group on the Toolbar. The advantage of doing it this way is so when you finish the editing the image in PHOTO-PAINT it will be in the same position and with the same size in CorelDRAW. To quickly open your image in Corel PHOTO-PAINT from CorelDRAW select the image and in the Properties Bar click on the Edit Bitmap icon. Since Corel PHOTO-PAINT is the image editor included in CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, it’s the best option when you have more complex images to remove the background from. With that you will have eliminated the background of the image, but also perfected the edges of it, helping to increase the quality. The result will be an object in the shape of your image, it can be adjusted if you need to make corrections or modifications.Īgain, we select the original image, we go to the menu PowerClip > Place inside frame, an arrow will appear, then click on the outline you created. Next, we go to the Object > Shaping > Boundary to automatically draw the outer of your image. The result is a group of objects, you can work with. I recommend using the High quality image option because it gives you more flexibility and it can remove the background, either automatically or by selecting the color to eliminate. You can find it by right clicking and selecting Quick Trace, or in the Properties Bar Bitmap > Quick Trace. In this case you are only using the vector to create your frame, so you could also use Quick Trace. There are different configurations according to the type of image, either a high-contrast image (Line Art), a logo, clipart, etc to a high-quality image. To open PowerTRACE you can right click on the image and select Outline Trace > High Quality Image, or in the Properties Bar Bitmap > Outline Trace > High Quality Image. In that case, I have a little trick: vectorize the image and then use the vector as a frame to create your PowerClip. Drawing the outline can sometimes take a lot of time and effort, especially for beginners. Now just like before you can add a new background to the image. The steps are similar to the previous example: select the image, go to the menu Object > PowerClip > Place inside frame, an arrow will appear, and you’ll click on the outline you’ve drawn. There are different pencil options (Freehand, Bézier, Pen, etc.), feel free to use the tool you’re the most comfortable with, the final result is exactly the same with each one. You can use the Pencil Tool (F5) and trace it. This flower is a great example, the simplest solution for creating the outline is to draw it. Of course, it’s not always that easy, since objects are not always so geometric. From here you can remove the ellipse outline and add another image to use as the new background. When you click it will remove everything outside of the object you created. Next, select the image, and go to the Object > PowerClip > Place inside frame, an arrow will appear and you will click on the ellipse to indicate it is a container. This is especially useful if the image that you want to remove the background from has well defined edges.Ī good example would be a photo of the Earth, which would be enough to draw an ellipse and adjust it to the shape of the planet. Here you will be placing one or more objects "inside" a vector object. This is one of the easier and most popular ways to remove the background of an image. Today, we are going to explore different ways to remove the background from images in CorelDRAW and Corel PHOTO-PAINT.

(This isn't a complete list, and any new medication should be regarded with caution.)Īs for the rash, when it's just itching things are usually fine, but still a nuisance. The most common triggers for these types of rashes include antibiotics, antiseizure medications, antigout medications like allopurinol, and even over-the-counter medications like NSAIDs. In the more delayed type of rash, symptoms can be more difficult to diagnose. Know the signs of severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs) It's important to tell the doctor you see what medications you have taken and how long ago you took them. While they are scary, these types of allergic reactions to a drug are not hard to identify, and many doctors are skilled at spotting dramatic changes in your breathing or blood pressure. These immediate, life-threatening reactions can be treated with steroids, epinephrine, and higher-dose antihistamines than you can find at the drug store. If you experience either of these symptoms, it's very important to get to the ED. With hives, the main concern is that you're experiencing a whole-body reaction that goes beyond the skin, one that can make breathing difficult or dangerously drops your blood pressure. When is a drug rash cause for concern and a visit to the ER? This delayed type of rash doesn't respond as well to antihistamines, but an over-the-counter topical cortisone cream (or one of its stronger prescription-strength versions) can help speed the healing process along. Unlike hives, these bumps don't move around, and after a few days things may start to get better, but you may have peeling skin much like a healing sunburn. Pink and red bumps appear on your chest and back, and spread to the arms and legs over the course of days. There is also a delayed type of drug rash that comes up four to 14 days after you start taking a medication. Since this process is related to the release of histamine, antihistamines (available over the counter at a drugstore) are the typical treatment. The most immediate type of reaction happens within hours. There are two main allergic rashes that may happen after taking a drug. How can you tell the serious rashes from ones that are just a nuisance, but will get better with time and treatment? Types of drug rashes Luckily the scary ones are pretty rare, but it's still a good idea to know how to spot them. While these itchy eruptions can be annoying, they usually run their course over a week or two and can be treated with topical medications.īut not all drug rashes are created equal - and some can even be deadly. It can be so disheartening to be getting better from one ailment only to discover that you have another issue to address. Rashes are a common and pesky side effect of many medications. What do you do? Should you worry? Should you see a medical professional? But slowly your skin begins to itch, and the telltale signs of a rash are already popping up - first on your torso, and now spreading to your arms and legs. You were recently started on antibiotics for an infection and you are now doing well. If you’re very fair then you can use something very pinky as your skin tone will tend to have pinkish undertones anyway. For Indian skin, a ballerina pink with hints of beige, or a pale dusty rose sort of colour is far more flattering than a straight up cotton candy colour, since it reflects the brown tones in our skin. A pale pink glitter is a beautiful choice for weddings or when you want to feel soft and girly. When going with a baby pink, you can definitely do metallic or glittery shades but for a more classic look stay in the solid, creamy zone. Instead go for a nice solid pink on long or short square nails to get the most bang for your buck. When going with brighter shades of pink, avoid metallics- they just look cheap and unflattering in almost every light, no matter what your skin tone is. Hot pink, fuchsia, magenta, and fluorescent pink all look really great on medium to darker tone skin, it offsets a tan beautifully and instantly gives off a vacation in the Bahamas sort of vibe. It doesn’t really matter if you go light or dark, as long as its a nicely pigmented colour and usually without glitter particles. Some of my favourite reds are as follows-Chick Flick Cherry, Coca-Cola Red, Lost On Lombard, and Big Apple Red all by O.P.I, Tomato Tango by Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist, Cinema by Chanel, Cherry Red by Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear, Burgundy Kiss by Maybelline.Īnother favourite among women of all ages, pink can look beautiful & feminine when done right. In the winter months especially you can do dark and devilish tones for subtle glamour. Shimmery maroon shades don’t look the greatest on, even though they look ok in the bottle (tried and failed many times), so go for a creamy deep wine, or almost purple/black sort of red. You can also go into the wine or oxblood zone, more in the maroon family, and in this case you want to go pretty dark and intense. Your nails can be long or short, square or rounded, but make sure they are well-groomed and evenly filed, otherwise you will defeat the whole purpose of this classic shade. matte, it should be a nice cherry red, brick red, or orangey red as those look best with Indian undertones, and lastly make sure its a high quality brand to get the kind of salon finish we all want (red can look horrible even if its a nice shade but the quality is cheap, you won’t get the kind of smooth finish, opacity and lasting power that you’re looking for). When picking a red for yourself keep a few things in mind, it should be a solid red with no metallic sheen, it should be glossy vs. It instantly evokes a vintage glamazon vibe a la Marilyn Monroe, Dita Von Teese, or my personal favourite, Jessica Rabbit. Red was one of the first nail colours to become popular in mainstream media and among celebrities. The ever classic, always glam red is a favourite with almost every woman on the planet, and with good reason. Nothing feels as good as a fresh mani & pedi, so what’s your next colour? I’ve put shades from O.P.I first because I’ve found that they’re easily available at most salons & shops but also included some kick ass colors from other brands. If you’re going metallic it should be subtle and muted- for example black or navy blue metallic is a great option for a punk rock feel, but super bright and shiny gold and silver or metallic neon colours are a no no (I don’t care if it’s your cousins wedding and it matches your outfit). In my experiments over the years I’ve found that generally solid & glossy look best on, as opposed to metallic (we all know how gold and glitter is an everlasting trend in our country, so you can imagine how many times I cringe while noticing peoples hands). Within these are textural sub-categories solid, metallic, glossy, matte, and sheer. And don’t even mention the confusion of trying to pick a nice shade just by looking at the bottle among hundreds of other colours at shops and salons! I tend to go back to my 4-5 favourites on loop depending on my mood, but trying new colours and finding one that I love is considered a small personal victory in my eyes (and I celebrate with cookies).īasically it comes down a few basic groups of colours: red, pink, orange, neutrals & nudes, pastels, and dark, and you should ideally have at least one in each family that you love on yourself. What looks good on your best friend may look totally different on you, or you may realise you like it in certain light and you think your hands look like a tacky middle-aged housewife in other light (it happens to me all the time!). Let’s face it, we all know its hard to find new colours that look flattering on your nails and skin- especially with medium to darker skin tones like ours, and even super fair skinned women have got to be selective about what colours they choose. The ideas of feature visualization are borrowed from Deep Dream, where we can obtain inputs that excite the network by maximizing the activation of neurons, channels, or layers of the network. Whenever such breakthroughs in deep learning happen, people wonder how the network manages to achieve such impressive results, and what it actually learned.Ī common way of looking into neural networks is feature visualization. The simplest way to access it is through its own app, DreamStudio. Stable Diffusion is used in lots of different apps. Midjourney is my favorite, though the free trial is temporarily paused, and using it through Discord is weird.ĭALL♾ 2 is great, but it's cheaper to access it through Bing Image Creator. With so many AI art generators to choose from, it can be hard to know where to start. Plus, you could always train your own using one of the apps I mentioned that allows for that. Adobe is beta testing an art generator that will integrate with Photoshop called Firefly. Many text-generating apps, like Writesonic and Rytr, also include AI art generators, so you can create images to go along with your copy.Īnd then there are others, like Palette, that can colorize photos.Īnd these are just the AI art generators that are available now. Lensa's Magic Avatars and MyHeritage's AI Time Machine both take a series of selfies and return AI-generated portraits. This list is focused on text-to-image art generators, but there are entire other categories of AI art makers out there. It's still in beta, so generating images doesn't cost anything (though saving them costs one credit). Let's Enhance is an AI-powered image upscaling app that recently added an art generator. The next step for the AI is to actually render the resulting image. Different art generators have different levels of understanding of complex text, depending on the size of their training database. This allows them to learn the difference between dogs and cats, Vermeers and Picassos, and everything else. To do this, the AI algorithms are trained on hundreds of thousands, millions, or even billions of image-text pairs. Since your prompt can be anything, the first thing all these apps have to do is attempt to understand what you're asking. They use computers, machine learning, powerful graphics cards, and a whole lot of data to do their thing.ĪI art generators take a text prompt and, as best they can, turn it into a matching image. But it turns out AI art generators don't work using magic. The first time you enter a prompt into an AI art generator and it actually creates something that perfectly matches what you want, it feels like magic. Sit too close and you won’t be watching your TV screen so much as watching the pixels that make up the picture. That means you need to be sitting no closer than 2.5m to your new 65-inch television – and, ideally, more like 3 to 3.5m. A good rule of thumb for 4K screens is to consider a distance of somewhere between 1.5 and 2 times the screen size as the minimum viewing distance. That means you need to measure the distance between where the TV is going to be and where you intend to sit when watching it.ĤK resolution screens are easier to watch from a short distance than 1080p Full HD equivalents – thanks to the massive uptick in pixel quantity – but nevertheless you don’t want to be too close. This is especially relevant if you plan to mount your TV on the wall – in purely decorative terms it might look great above the fireplace, but unless you watch TV from a bar-stool it’s almost certain to be too high to view comfortably. So the ‘65-inch’ measurement indicates the distance from the bottom-left corner of the screen to the top-right corner. Well, it’ll be just the same if you’re sitting too close to your TV.įirst of all, bear in mind that TV screen sizes are measured on the diagonal. It’s rotten, isn’t it? Can’t take in the whole screen at once, can’t help but notice noise in the picture, can’t help but be made to feel a bit queasy by rapid or unpredictable on-screen motion. We’ve all been to the cinema to see a popular film during its first few days of release, which means at some point we’ve all ended up sitting too close to the screen. The most fundamental question of all is: do you have the necessary space to accommodate a 65-inch TV? We don’t mean the surface to put it on, or the wall to hang it on, either – we mean the distance from which you’ll need to sit in order to enjoy a comfortable viewing experience. There are factors to consider before you get out your credit card and start folding the back seats of your car down. Just because you can afford a 65-inch TV, though, it doesn’t automatically follow that you should go straight out and buy one. I sat with her in the teaching room while the group gathered in the dining room where they would then ‘send’ their intentions to Rebecca. I happened to have my heart monitor with me, a device called ‘ emWave’, by Heartmath, so Ann suggested we connect one of the participants to the device and then the rest of the group would ‘send’ loving and kind intentions from another room.Īnother of the participants (Rebecca) volunteered to be connected to the device. One of the participants (Ann) suggested that we try our own experiment, given that by this stage of the course, the group had emotionally bonded really well. We discussed how these correlations tend to be strongest when two subjects (people) in an experiment share an emotional bond. These experiments note correlations between the neural states of people who are separated by a distance that is, as one person’s state changes, it seems to correlate with a change in state of the other person at precisely the same time. We discussed experiments that seemed to show the connections using MRI or EEG. On the third evening of the course we (the participants and I) were having a discussion about the interconnectedness of life and discussing some of the scientific evidence of it. As well as mainstream topics like the placebo effect, meditation, visualisation, emotional contagion, the effects of compassion and kindness on the brain, heart, and inflammatory process, I also cover more ‘out there’ subjects. I host the event at my favourite holistic centre, Lendrick Lodge, in the Scottish countryside. I was running my annual 5-day ‘Integrating Science’ event, where I show people how to integrate science into their own practices. In June, I unexpectedly participated in such an experiment. Numerous studies have also show correlations between the physiological or neurological states of two people even if they are separated in space. Quantum Physics has shown us entanglement, where the state of one particle is correlated with the state of another, irrespective of distance (and now time, it seems). It’s an experiment in interconnectedness – how we are connected through space. But also, from time-to-time, I write on more ‘out there’ topics, like synchronicities, the nature of consciousness, and interconnectedness, as I have covered all of these subjects in some of my 8 books. You know that I write mostly on subjects like the mind-body connection, self-love, my dog Oscar who passed away last year, as well as kindness and compassion and the science of how they affect our health. |
